Sherrie Lynn Karns, age 54, of Gold Star highway, Groton, passed away Tuesday at Pendleton in Mystic after a brief battle with melanoma.
Ms. Karns was born in New London on October 23, 1955, the daughter of the late George C. and Patricia (Blaine) Karns.
Sherrie experienced all that Eastern CT and RI had to offer ~ making friends every step of the way. Sherrie will be fondly remembered for jovial laugh, good heart, and keen ability to smile through even the toughest of times.
She is survived by two children, Todd O. Bridgeman, of Norwich, and Nicole Clark of RI; her siblings, Scott Karns and his wife, Debora, of Peoria, AZ, and Sheila R. Taurianen and her husband, William, of Ledyard; as well as a special friend John Nahornick, who provided Sherrie with great care and comfort during her last days.
She was also predeceased by two brothers, Douglas and Patrick Karns.
A brief Graveside Service will be held at Lambtown Cemetery, Lambtown Road, Ledyard, on Monday December 28th at 12noon. There are no visiting hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sherrie’s memory to the American Cancer Society, Southern New England Region, Franklin Commons, 106 Route 32, Franklin, CT 06254.
