Obituary

MR. RICHARD DEAN TOBIAS

Evans, GA. – Mr. Richard Dean Tobias, 56, beloved husband of 36 years of Masami Tobias, died at home on Friday, December 4, 2009, surrounded by his family and close friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Pastor Jeff Flowers officiating. There will also be a funeral service for Mr. Tobias at St. Peters Church in Plattsburgh, New York at 1:00 PM on December 27, 2009. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Mr. Tobias graduated from Williamston High School in Williamston, Michigan in 1971. In October of 1971, he joined the United States Navy and served until 1973. In 1983, he graduated from Lawrence Institute of Technology with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.

In addition to his wife, Masami, Mr. Tobias is survived by his daughters, Michelle Tobias-Sample, and husband, Bradley, of Morrisville, New York, and Tara Tobias of Orlando, Florida, his stepfather, Gordon Bachman of Howell, Michigan, a brother, Steven Tobias of Jacksonville, Florida, and his beloved grandchildren, Ireland Bachman , Liam Richard, and Maeve Alma Sample. He is also survived by his extended family, nephews Nathan Tobias and wife, Andrea and Drew Tobias, mother in law, Hisako Kagata, sisters in law, Setsuko Hasagawa and Keiko Owada, nephews, Shunsuke and Sosuke Hasagawa, and Satoru and Takuma Owada and niece, Kana Owada. He also leaves behind a dear friend, Eric Beyer, and a treasured group of friends and colleagues at the Medical College of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Tobias, mother, Shirley Bachman, brother in law, Yoichi Hasagawa, and father in law, Keiji Kagata.
