WALSH, Richard J. Of Boston and Provincetown, formerly of Roxbury and West Roxbury, December 4th, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a courageous 6 year battle with Multiple Myeloma, age 64 years.

Beloved husband of John E. Babchak III.
Devoted cousin of Eileen T. Reynolds of North Andover and her children Lisa of Wakefield and Mark of Merrimac.

Fond brother-in-law of James and Fern Babchak of Scarsdale, NY, Richard and Jo-Ann Babchak of Wilton, CT, and Joan Babchak and Ronald Goldstein of Rye, NY.
Dear uncle of Timothy Babchak and Marina Lazar of Scarsdale, NY, Priscilla, Natasha, Victoria, and Cecelia Babchak of Wilton, CT, and Jack and Alex Goldstein of Rye, NY.

Loving son of the late Francis and Mary (Frieburger) Walsh of Roxbury, MA and brother of the late Francis Walsh of Arlington, MA.
Visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER, Tuesday 4-7 P.M. Followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Friends are asked to bring and share their stories and memories of Richard.
A Roman Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cecelia Church, 18 Belvidere St., Back Bay, Boston, on Wednesday morning, December 9, at 11 A.M. Followed by prayers of Final Commendation at Bigelow Chapel at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.

Richard was a graduate of Suffolk University and held a Masters Degree in Education from Cambridge College. During his undergraduate years he funded his tuition by working in the lab at the Old Mister Boston Distillery as a liquor tester. Following graduation he was an educator in the City of Boston for 27 years with the last 17 years of his career spent as a Special Education teacher at the John W. McCormack Middle School at Columbia Point, Dorchester. Following retirement he was a volunteer for the Travelers Aid Society at Logan Airport assisting international travelers and later volunteered at Tufts Medical Center. He was a fearless international traveler, an accomplished cook, a voracious reader, and a generous and loyal friend.
