Carol Walker Joyner of Amory, MS, 56, died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. She was born January 24, 1953 in Oxford, MS to the late William “Sonny” and Carrie Lewis Walker. She lived in Water Valley until 1974 and has lived in Amory for 35 years. In 1972, she married Mike Joyner who survives. Along with her husband, she co-owned and operated Larson’s Big Star in Amory for over 30 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Amory. A devoted wife and mother, she will be greatly missed. Her legacy will be the comfort of many friends she has enjoyed over the past several years.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt and Bro. Buzz Wilkinson officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday, and also from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2009 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory. Burial will be in the Walker Cemetery in Water Valley.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Joyner of Amory; two sons, Chad Joyner and Blake Joyner, both of Amory; and two brothers, Jimmy Walker of Starkville and Lynn Walker of Water Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Billy Walker.
Pallbearers will be Dan Dabbs, Ronnie Herndon, Don Larson, Rodney Pennington, Dan Sanders, Kerry Saylors, Mike Tubb, and Benny Wright.
