Frank A. Marinella, of Medford, formerly of Boston’s North End, died Friday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 82.
Frank was born and raised in the North End, the son of the late Antonio and the late Angelina (Vozzella) Marinella. A graduate of Boston English High School, Frank served in the Coast Guard during World War II and worked as a salesman. A Medford resident for 44 years, Frank remained close to the North End and enjoyed long lasting friendships from that neighborhood. He was an active member of St. Leonard Parish throughout his life. He was a member of the North End’s Sulmona Club and served as President of the North End Athletic Association.
Frank was an avid Golfer, enjoyed travel, but most of all loved the company of his family.
The beloved husband of Madeline R. (Vitale) Marinella, Frank was a devoted father to Angela Kersenbrock and her husband Robert of FL, Estelle DeWolfe and her husband Thomas of Methuen, Cindy Donovan and her husband Patrick of Medford, Anthony Marinella and his wife Susan of Wilmington. He was a loving grandfather to Benjamin Kersenbrock and his wife Blair, Francesca and Samuel Kersenbrock, Ashley DeWolfe, Paul DeWolfe and his wife Kierstyn, Matthew, Ryan Anthony and Angelina Donovan, Elisa, Anthony and Michael Marinella. He was a dear brother to Sarah Longo and her husband Joseph of FL, Marie Gioia and her husband Andrew of Medford, Joseph Marinella and his wife Rose of Franklin. Frank also leaves many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday at 8:45 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston, at 9:45 AM Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 2 thru 7. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
