Obituary

Esther Ann Bridget (King) Amsden, 78, of Manchester, died while surrounded by her family at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH after a short illness.
She was born and raised in Manchester, NH the sixth of seven children of Thomas and Bridget (O’Malley) King. She attended Highland Grammar School and St. Joseph’s High School for Girls, both formerly located in the City.
Prior to retiring, Esther Amsden had been employed by Osram Sylvania and Jewels Electronics for many years.
She was a lifelong communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Manchester and was very active in many parish activities, including serving as a Eucharistic minister, working tirelessly at the parish food pantry, and volunteering at Mercy Meals sponsored by the church.
Esther Amsden will be remembered as a loving, warm and generous person who devoted her life to her family and community while practicing her faith in everyday life.
She was predeceased by one son, Wayne M. Amsden in 2005 and by her eldest brother, Frank P. King and her youngest sister, Patricia (King) Demers.
Family members include her husband of 55 years Wayne A. Amsden of Manchester; one son, Timothy Amsden of Manchester; three grandchildren, Josslyn and Jonathan Amsden of Provo, UT, and Myah Amsden of Manchester; three brothers, Thomas King, Peter J. King, and John A. King, all of Manchester; one sister, Irene (King) Smestad of Manchester; along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
