Emile A. Fredette, 86

Emile A. “Butch” Fredette, 86, of Norton passed away on Wednesday December 2, 2009 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton in the presence of his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jeanne R. (Proulx) Fredette to whom he was married on September 1, 1956.
Born in Attleboro, MA on February 3, 1923 he was a son of the late Adelard and Mary A. (Besette) Fredette.
He grew up and was educated in Pawtucket, R.I. During WWII he faithfully served his country serving in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on December 9, 1945 with the rank of Private First Class.
A retired truck driver, Mr. Fredette had been employed for 31 years for the former Hilsinger Optical Co. in Plainville before retiring. Following his retirement he had also worked part time at the Willow Tree Chicken Farm in Attleboro.
Butch was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton where he also served as a former collector. He was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan and was happiest when spending time with his adoring family. He had made his home in Norton for over 70 years.
In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years he is survived by his devoted daughters Linda J. Murphy and her husband Philip of Norton, Joyce A. Kane and her husband Arthur of North Attleboro and Janice M. Reeder and her husband Matt of Attleboro.
He was the dear brother of Cecelia Hamel of Lincoln, RI, Claire Roy of Pawtucket, RI and the late Albertine Brown, Irene Sequire, Rita Moulin and Margaret Sheriff. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughters Erin Haire of Norton, Jill Norcott of Waltham and April Hunt of North Attleboro, his great grandchildren Ian Haire and Corinne Haire both of Norton and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday December 7th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 133 South Worcester St. Norton. Burial with military honors will follow in the Norton Common Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday December 6th from 4-7 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Fredette’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to either St. Mary’s Church Building Fund 1 Power St. Norton, MA 02766 or the Alzheimer’s Association 311 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA 02472.
