Helen L. (Goodwin) Kent, 78, of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 2, 2009 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare. She was the beloved wife of the late George W. Kent to whom she was married for 24 years at the time of his death on June 1, 1978.
Born in Malden, MA on July 2, 1931 she was a daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Moore) Goodwin.
She grew up and was educated in Malden. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker to her loving family, Mrs. Kent had also formerly worked at Datel Industries in Mansfield.
Helen was an avid bingo player who also enjoyed reading and watching movies on television, John Wayne movies being her favorite. She loved decorating for the Christmas season and her family will always remember her exceptional cooking and baking skills. A resident of Mansfield for the past 34 years she had formerly resided in North Attleboro and Malden.
She is survived by her devoted children Christine L. Bedard of Mansfield, Peter W. Kent of Mansfield, Lisa M. Ordway of Attleboro and David P. Kent of Mansfield. She was the sister of Frank Goodwin of Malden, Ruth Jewell of Woburn, Peter Goodwin of Colorado and the late Jane Cosgrove and Paul Goodwin. She was the adoring grandmother of Rachael Bedard, Mark Bedard, Ryan Ordway, Laura Ordway, Lauren Kent and Jacob Kent and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday December 5th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday morning prior to the funeral services beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
