Obituary

Louise I. Nutt, 72, a longtime resident of Chester, NH, died Monday, November 30, 2009 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. Louise was born in Manchester, NH on July 17, 1937, daughter of the late Herman and Laura (Teague) Nutt. She was a descendent of Commodore Nutt whose items she had recently donated to the Manchester Historic Association Millyard Museum. Her family went back to the early years of Nutfield section of Manchester. Louise grew up on High Street during a time her friends describe as being idyllic for being a child. She was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy and was considered the best women athlete in the class of 1955. Her letter sweater remains in the Pinkerton Museum. She also graduated from UNH, where she belonged to Kappa Delta Sorority, with a degree in Physical Education. She went on to teach, spending most of her career in the Townsend, MA school system where she also coached field hockey for many years. “Weezie,” as her old friends called her, loved to read, loved music, especially operas, loved genealogy and loved her animals. She loved her Chester, NH and the close friends she had made there, as well as friends from High Street, UNH and Townsend. She had also worked at the Chester Public Library, where she was an expert on seeking information and an expert on genealogy.
She leaves two nephews, a niece, cousins and lots of friends and schoolmates who loved her dearly and will mourn her loss. She was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn.
Graveside services were held 10:00am Thursday, December 10, 2009 in the Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 1:00pm in the Chester Congregational Baptist Church, 4 Chester St., Chester, NH. In lieu of flowers memorials in Louise’s memory may be made to the Chester Congregational Baptist Church, P.O. Box 306, Chester, NH 03036
