New Bedford - Cherrie Ann Da Silva Watkins, age 47 years, died Wednesday December 2nd with her Twin Cheryle Ann Gagne of New Bedford at her side. She is also survived by her loving son Damon Watkins of New Bedford, sister Camille C. Beeler and her husband Christopher Beeler of New York, brother George A. Watkins of New York, NY, brother the late Sheldon and his wife the late Christine Watkins. Cherrie was the loving companion of Christopher N. Flanagan of New Bedford. She was also survived by 2 nieces, 2 nephews, 1 great nephew, and 2 great nieces.
Ms. Watkins was the daughter of the late Henry Da Silva Jr. and Pauline Louise (Baptiste) Watkins. Cherrie was the stepdaughter of the late Thomas Steven “Daddy Bubu” Watkins. She was born in Boston and spent several years in Marthas Vineyard before returning to this area where she lived most of her life. She was a Dreamer who loved life and was a Poet; she had several of her works published. She was a member of the Poet Society, and was also a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church in New Bedford.
In accordance with her wishes she was cremated, a private service will be held at a later date. Flowers may be ordered and sent to the funeral home on Tuesday, December 15th for services.
