The family of Thomas C. Ksiazek, Sr. would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the outpouring of support from family members and friends, who came from near and far, to honor the life of Thomas.  Your generous expressions of love and friendship remain a source of comfort to this day.  Special acknowledgment to Monsignor John Lewis and Father Hafey for their spiritual guidance throughout Tom's life.  By sharing your kind words and memories with us during this time of great sorrow, you have touched our hearts and helped lighten our burden over the loss of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Brother-in-law and Uncle.

We know he is safely home in Heaven and will remain in our hearts forever.

Thomas C. Ksiazek Sr. of Waverly died Monday at Hershey Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, the former Joan Glinsky.

Born in Olyphant, son of the late John and Leocadia Zalewski Ksiazek, he was a graduate of Scranton Prep, class of 1951, and St. Thomas College (now the University of Scranton). He earned a Master of Social Work from Fordham University. He was an Army veteran.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Olyphant, and the Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green. He was also a member the National Association of Social Workers and the National Alliance on Mental Illnesses. Before retiring, he worked at Friendship House in Scranton, Luzerne County Mental Health, Scranton Counseling Center, where he was director of the partial hospitalization program, and the Advanced Community Services Association. He was also associated with the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

Also surviving are a daughter, Leanne Ksiazek, V.M.D., East Hampton, Mass., and partner, Sandra; two sons, Thomas C. Jr. and wife, Leigh Ann, Clark Summit; and Gregory, Clarks Summit; four grandsons, Jamie, Nicholas, Tyler and James; a granddaughter, Cassandra; a brother, Raymond Ksiazek and wife, Ann, Delray Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Isabella Myslinksi, Bethlehem; and Christine Pertusi and husband, Anthony, Littleton; a sister-in-law, Madeline Ksiazek, Olyphant; many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Ksiazek; and three sisters, Mary Ksiazek, Regina Ksiazek and Florence Gefreh.

The funeral will be Friday from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Gregory's Church, Clarks Green, to be celebrated by Monsignor John Lewis. Friends attending the Mass are asked to proceed directly to church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Scott Twp.
