Obituary

John G. "Jack" Johnson, Jr., age 65, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at Union Hospital in Lynn.
He was born in Lowell on September 13, 1944, beloved son John G. Johnson, Sr. of Hillsboro, NH, and son of the late Maureen (Young) Johnson.
He served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War era, having been discharged in 1973 as a Specialist-5.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a tax examiner at the I.R.S. in Andover for 30 years. He also worked part-time for Flowers by Albert in Lowell for many years making deliveries.
Jack loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also taught fly-fishing and fly-tying at UMass. He was a member of the Greater Lowell Sportsmen's Club, National Rifle Association and B.A.S.S. Fishing Association.
Besides his father, he is survived by his daughter, Demetra Blanchard of Alexandria, NH; a brother, William Johnson of Claremont, NH; a sister and brother-in-law: Janice & Wayne Reissle of Washington, NH; his former wife, Eugenia (Ostis)(Johnson) Funaro of Tyngsboro; a step-daughter: Genevive Bearrs of Lynn; he was also the brother of the late Robert Johnson who died in 1991.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial visitation and service on Tuesday Dec. 1st, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell. A prayer service will take place at 7:00 PM. Interment is private at the convenience of the family. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association-20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
