Obituary

Barbara A (Gay) Turner, 80, of Whitman, died Friday November 27th in the Cedar Hill Healthcare Center after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Warren Turner. Barbara was born in Brockton, daughter of the late Earl and Adeline (Murphy) Gay.

She was a life long resident of Whitman, a graduate of Whitman High School, class of 1946.Barbara worked at the Shank Shop, Commonwealth Shoe Company and at the Brae Burn Nursing Home, all in Whitman. She was a communicant of the Holy Ghost Church, where she sang in the church choir, member of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW 697 and the Whitman Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary
Barbara was an avid reader and was always going to the Whitman Library for her books, and she also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Janice Fowler of Whitman and her granddaughter Heather Fernald and her husband Darren of Whitman; also her sister-in-law Elizabeth Dizney of Walpole, several nieces and nephews.

Her services will be held on Wednesday December 2nd at 9:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Tuesday December 1st from 4:00-8:00PM.In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1115 West Chestnut St. Suite 301,Brockton, MA 02301
