Genevieve A. O’Brien, 83, passed away at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford on November 28th, 2009. She was born in Braintree on March 22nd, 1926 to her parents Eugene and Ethel (Moynihan) O’Brien. Genevieve has been a life long resident of Malden. She has been a communicant at Immaculate Conception Church in Malden for many years. For over 30 years, Genevieve worked for New England Telephone, retiring as a Level Three Manager. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a former volunteer at the Malden Hospital and a member of the Melrose Garden Club. She is survived by her sister and best friend Elinor O’Brien of Malden; by her niece Nancy Murphy of Merrimack, NH; and by her nephews, Michael O’Brien of Portsmouth, RI, Robert O’Brien of Royalston and Fred Vanley of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews. Along with her parents, Genevieve was predeceased by her sister Claire Lancaster and by her brother Robert O’Brien. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Tuesday December 1st at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass on Tuesday only. Services will conclude with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
