Obituary

Mike S. Nicholas, 84, of New Bedford died Wednesday November 25, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Olga K. (Ontrey) Nicholas.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Spiro and Olymbia (Ligar) Nicholas, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church.

Mr. Nicholas served in the U.S. Air Force for over twenty years before his retirement in 1969 as a Senior Master Sergeant. He served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He later was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in New Bedford.

He was a member of the Mount Carmel Senior Citizens and the Dartmouth Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dr. Michael Nicholas and his wife Lori of Paducah, KY; a brother, Alexander Nicholas of Dartmouth; two sisters, Connie Langevin and Phyllis Vasil, both of Wellesley; and a grandson, William Nicholas.

He was the brother of the late Jennie Johan, Nicholas, Christopher, and George Nicholas.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
