Obituary

BELLINGHAM: Joseph Walter Walker, 88, died unexpectedly at the Milford Whitinsville Regional Hospital on Mon. Nov. 23, 2009.
He was born in Medford on March 20, 1921 the son of the late Harold E. and Anastasia (McGrath) Walker.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife June M. (Grant) Walker of Bellingham. He was the father of Sharon L. Wyman and her husband James R. Wyman of Webster and Wayne G.Walker of Bellingham. He was the grandfather of Justin J. Wyman and Matthew S. Wyman both of Webster. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louise Fryklund.
Mr. Walker has been a resident of Bellingham for the past 47 years and spent his formative years in Medford. He was a graduate of Medford High School. He served his country proudly during World War II as a Signalman Third Class with the United States Navy. He had a long career as a Correctional Officer for the Walpole State Prison. He remained very active throughout his lifetime with the American Legion Post 367 of Medway, the VFW Post 1526 of Medway and with the DAV of Milford serving as an officer and past commander. He was an accomplished artist and especially enjoyed painting jockeys and horse racing. In later years he painted landscapes and portraits. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Visitations will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St (Route 16) Holliston.
Funeral Service will follow visitations at 11:00 am at the Funeral home. Interment will be in the Walker family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in Medway.
