WORCESTER-Richard Douglas Jarvis, 85, of Worcester, passed away Tuesday, November 24th in his home. He leaves his wife, Lucille M. (LeBlanc) Jarvis; three sons, Lee D. Jarvis and his wife Jeanette, Christopher D. Jarvis and his wife Linda, and Todd D. Jarvis and his wife Maureen; his daughter-in-law, Terry Jarvis; four grandchildren, Rebecca Lee, Marie Ann, Elizabeth Ann and Timothy Richard Jarvis; and several nephews and nieces. His son, Mark D. Jarvis, predeceased him.
Mr. Jarvis was born in Worcester on October 19, 1924, the son of Wilfred Nelson and Ella Pope (Rugg) Jarvis. He worked on the Boston and Albany Railroad and the New York Central System as a conductor and retired as a general officer of the United Transportation Union after 41 years of service. Mr. Jarvis was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council, a member and past president of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, a past president of the Laymen’s Retreat Lounge, a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the United Transportation Union.
Following cremation, family and friends are invited to a luncheon on Thursday, December 3rd at 11:30 AM at O’Connor’s Restaurant, 1160 West Boylston Street, Worcester, MA 01606 to remember his life.
