Joshua Travis Nanney, 28, Adams, TN, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Freeman officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. The remains are to be cremated. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born June 1, 1981 in Memphis, TN son of Edward Wayne Nanney and Dianne Frields Nanney. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents Neal and Dorothy Frields of Martin, TN. Josh graduated from Clarksville High School in 1999. He attended MTSU from '99 - '02 and graduated from Austin Peay University in 2004.Josh was an accountant with Ernst and Young. He was a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and the Young Republicans. While a student at the University of Akron School of Law, Josh was affectionately called "Mr. Law School." He was the First Year Evening Class Representative to the Student Bar Association '04-'05 (and to the applause of his classmates, established the Evening Class Snack Cart). As a second year law student, the student body elected Josh Student Bar Association President '05-'06. Josh also competed on the school's nationally ranked mock trial team in '05 -'06 and assisted the team in '07-'08. He received the Honorary Alumni Award for committment and service to the University and surrounding community and then by unamious recommendation of the law school faculty he received his Juris Doctorate Degree in October 2009. Survivors include his mother, grandparents, Laurence and Margaret Anne Nanney, Medon, TN and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
