UPTON____Benedict Vasis, 80, of Upton, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Avenue North, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Virginia I. (Muradian) Vasis, a sister, Aldona R. Zitkus of Florida; three nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond Vasys and Jesse Vasys. He was born and raised in Lithuania, a son of Victor and Petronele (Endriukaitis) Vasys and came with his family to this country in 1949. He lived in Worcester and then Grafton and has resided in Upton for 30 years.
Mr. Vasis was a set up man and later a Group Leader and worked 45 years for General Electric Co., in Worcester and later in Ashland. He retired in 1994. He was a member of St. Casimir Church, Worcester and the former Lithuanian Naturalization & Social Club, Worcester.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 28 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, Worcester with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence Street, Worcester. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum, Worcester. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, November 28 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home.
