Obituary

Marian (Bishop) Fahey of West Roxbury, passed away on November 22, 2009. She was 85 years old. Born and raised in Medford, Marian was a 1942 graduate of Medford High School. From there she went on to nursing school at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Marian worked as an RN for over 35 years at various hospitals, day camps, and blood banks in the Greater Boston area. She worked for many years at the Boston Aid for the Blind in West Roxbury.

In her spare time, Marian enjoyed painting and working in the garden. She was very fond of birds and enjoyed watching and listening to them. She attended classes at the Institute for Learning in Retirement at Boston College, and was very active in the St. Bartholomew Senior Social Club.

Marian was the dear and devoted wife of Thomas C. Fahey Jr. (B.P.D. Ret.) Loving mother of Thomas C. Fahey III and his wife Karen of OR, and Paula F. Fahey and her fiance Brian Smith of OR. Cherished grandmother of Colin and Liam Fahey of OR. Dear sister of Harold Bishop of Melrose, Doris LeBre of Hudson and the late Walt Bishop, Joseph Arnold Bishop, and James Bishop. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Marian’s Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday November 28, 2009 at St. Bartholomew Church, Needham. Contributions in Marian’s memory may be made to St. Francis House 39 Boylston St. Boston, MA 02116, the Mass Audubon Society 208 South Great Rd. Lincoln, MA 01773 or to the West Roxbury Art Association Scholarship Fund, c/o Eileen Donnelly, 95 Stratford St., West Roxbury, MA 02132.
Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
