Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Robert E. “Tuppy” Kain, 89, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Virginia (Fialho) Kain.
Born in Gloucester on June 29, 1920, he was the son of the late John R. and Myrtle (Roberts) Kain. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Bob was taken prisoner by the German Army in the Battle of the Budge. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant in October 1945.
Bob was a self-employed carpenter-contractor until his retirement in 1982. During his retirement he was an avid gardener and loved to fish with his grandsons, Rory and Brady. He was devoted to his wife and family and he loved family gatherings. He had a passion and deep respect for all life and it was infectious to those who were close to him. He will be greatly missed as a loving, humble gentle man who deeply loved his wife and family and who strove for perfection at everything he did. The world is a better place because of Bob “Tuppy” Kain.
In addition to his loving wife of fifty years, he is survived by his daughter, Barbara and her husband, Jerry Stubbs of Atlanta, Georgia; his two sons, James and his wife, Renee Kain of Gloucester and Robert Kain, Jr. of Magnolia; four grandchildren, Rory and Brady Kain both of Gloucester and Scott and Steven Stubbs both of Atlanta, GA; two step-grandchildren, Jillian and Jeffrey Oliveira both of Gloucester; a sister, Doris Roberts of Raymond, NH and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by six brothers, Lester, Charles, Roy, Richard, David and Wilbur Kain.
His funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the VNACare, 5 Federal St., Danvers, MA 01923.
