LOWELL—Eileen M. (Whitney) McDonnell, 83 years old, died Friday morning September 5th, at Wentworth Skilled Care Center, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Richard F. McDonnell, who died in September of 1980.
She was born in Lowell, on September 2, 1920, a daughter of the late Walter and Mary E. (Kelley) Whitney, and was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Immaculate Conception High School.
Mrs. McDonnell was employed as an IBM Punch Operator by the Raytheon Corporation and Avco, until her retirement. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and held membership in the Holy Rosary of that parish and the Oblate Mission Club.
Surviving her are a two sons and daughters-in-law: Leonard J. and Patricia McDonnell, of Chelmsford; and Richard R. and Amy McDonnell, of Hudson, NH; four grandchildren: Christopher, Michael, Lauren and Mark McDonnell; also several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 PM on Sunday, September 7th at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to be offered Monday morning, September 8th, at 10 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
