Obituary

Qualter, Ruth A., 75, a resident of Quincy since 1938, died on November 20, 2009 at home.

Born in Portland, Maine, the beloved daughter of James F. and Ruth A. Qualter, she was raised in Quincy, attended Quincy public schools and Katherine Gibbs School. She earned the designation “Certified Professional Secretary” from the Institute for Certifying Secretaries in Kansas City, MO, in 1961. Her 38 year career was with New England Mutual Life Insurance Company, Boston, first in the Law Department and then as assistant to the Corporate Secretary.

She was a life-long parishioner of Saint Ann Church in Wollaston and served there as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. She enjoyed traveling, classical music, baking, and reading.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, James B. and Lorraine M. Qualter of Venice, FL; cousins Julia K. and Ann Marie Murphy of Portland, ME; and a cherished friend of over fifty years, Lois E. Crosby of Wollaston.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street., QUINCY. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:15 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in Saint Ann Church, Wollaston at 9 AM. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Quincy Crisis Center, PO Box 31, Quincy, MA 02170 or to a charity of one’s choice.
