Virgil Dean Croy, 79, of Tifton died Friday, November 20, 2009, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 21, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Croy was born on November 10, 1930 in Funston and was the son of William E. Croy and Tempie Matthews Croy, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Croy. He was retired from the United States Army and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was also a former member of the VFW.
Mr. Croy is survived by three sons, William Croy of Tifton, Thomas Croy of Valdosta and Guenther Virgil Dean Croy of Valdosta; one daughter, Caroline Croy of Tifton; two brothers, Bobby Croy of Tifton and Arthur Croy of Tallahassee, Florida; three sisters, Hazel Grimsley of Adel, Carolyn Stripling of Adel and Linda Baldree of Sparks; five grandchildren, Ashley Croy, Sarah Croy, John Croy, Whitney Croy and Lauren Croy; and one great grandson, Jackson Croy.
