Barbara Lee Able Wrocklage, 68, of Jeffersontown, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009.
She was a graduate of Nazareth Academy and St. Joseph Infirmary School of Nursing. She retired from her career as a pediatric and surgical nurse after having spent many years employed at St. Joseph’s, Audubon, and Baptist East Hospitals.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Melissa “Missy” Stout, her sister Carrie Able, and her parents Mallie “Betty” Able and Lloyd V. “Bud” Able, Sr.
She is survived by her children Julie Wright (Dan), Susan Durham (Brian), Matt Wrocklage (Mendy), and Leanne Edelen (Charlie); her four cherished sisters Doris Allen, Alice McKinley, Sallie Niehoff, and Rita Walker; her brothers Freddy “Buddy” Able, Rick Able, and Lloyd Able; eight beloved grandchildren; and a large, loving, extended family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
“Barb” was a talented, award-winning seamstress and avid golfer. She was well-known for her one of a kind sense of humor, which always elicited smiles. In later years, she relished her role as Gramme to her ever-expanding family. Her grandchildren, who range from 20 years to 17 months, were among her great joys in life.
Loved ones remained her priority throughout life. With unmatched strength of character and fierce determination, she provided for and bolstered those around her. Always, she stood as the rock of her family.
Her Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church 3705 Stone Lakes Dr.
Burial will be in St. Edward Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-8 pm at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown 9318 Taylorsville rd.
