George M. Marcotte

...retired Chemical Engineer at General Electric; 81

TEWKSBURY - George M. Marcotte, age 81, died Friday morning, Sept. 5, at the Beth IsraelHospital in Boston after a brief illness. He was the husband of Alice P. (Oleaga) Marcotte, whodied April 8, 2002.

He was born in New Bedford, Dec. 20, 1921, a son of the late Anthony and Alice (Poisson)Marcotte. He had resided in Tewksbury for the last 4 decades.

During WWII, he served in the Army Air Force in the South Pacific. Upon discharge, hegraduated from University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

He was a retired chemical engineer at General Electric, and had worked at both the West Lynnand Concord Road, Wilmington, laboratories.

He was a member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church, and had served on several churchboards.

He was a 32nd degree member and past Treasurer of the Wamesit A.F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge,and a member of the Tewksbury Wilmington Elks Lodge # 2070.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas G. and Patricia (Stevens) Marcotte ofNo. Andover, James A. and Pamela (Marcoux) Marcotte of Londonderry, NH, twograndchildren, Jennifer and Gregory Marcotte, seven sisters and brothers, Lucille Champagne,Roger Marcotte, Pauline Simons, Roland Marcotte all of New Bedford, Jeannette Bernarche ofR.I., Florence O’Brien of Acushnet, and Claire Rijo of Fla.

He was also brother of the late Napoleon Marcotte.

His Funeral Service will be held Monday, Sept. 8, at 10:00 a.m. in the Tewksbury CongregationalChurch, corner of East and Main Sts. (Rte 38) Tewksbury Center. Visiting hours Sunday 4 to 7p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Tewksbury Cemetery.
