Obituary

Salvatore “Sal” Ferrante, 85, a longtime resident of East Weymouth, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 17. He was the loving husband of 60 years of Catherine “Kay” (Malzone) Ferrante. Born and educated in Sicily, he was a member of the Carabinieri State Police from 1943-1949 before moving to the United States in November of 1949. He was a resident of East Weymouth for 56 years. In his free time he enjoyed stamp collecting, fishing, gardening and traveling.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ferrante is survived by his children, Maryann Gallant and her husband Larry of Bridgewater and Paula Croce and her husband Lorne of Pittsfield, ME, as well as his grandchildren, Ariana, Anthony and Dante Croce. He was the brother of Paula Mozzicato of Wethersfield, CT and Maria Amenta of Sicily. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann Church, 95 N. Main St., West Bridgewater on Monday, November 23 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Sunday from 2-5 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Donations in Sal’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn., 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
