WORCESTER: Grace P. (Mastrapasqua) Thomas, 80, of 46 Elliott St., died at home, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, November 14, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She leaves 2 daughters, Lucretia Trager and her husband Geoffrey of Naples, FL, Cynthia Clayton of Aloha, OR; 3 brothers, Maurice Mastrapasqua and his wife Barbara of Valrico, FL; Larry D’Agostino and his wife Phyllis of Worcester, Leo D’Agostino and his wife Pina of Shrewsbury; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her extended family, Marylou and Fred LaRiviere. A son, Wayne R. Thomas, a sister, Bettina Larivee, and 3 brothers, Peter and Salvatore Mastrapasqua, and Eldo D’Agostino, all predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Mauro and Lucrezia (Caprioli) Mastrapasqua, and lived here all her life.
Grace worked as a Cafeteria Manager at Plant One of Norton Company for many years, until she retired in 1993. She previously worked at the Plymouth Grill and at the Waldorf Cafe. She was a long time member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, now known as Our Lady of Providence, an active member of the Red Hats Society and the Worcester Senior Center. Grace was known for her talents in cooking, crocheting, and knitting, and she loved to play Bingo.
After cremation, a MEMORIAL FUNERAL MASS with her ashes will be held at 10 A.M. on FRIDAY, Nov. 20, in OUR LADY OF PROVIDENCE PARISH, 228 Lincoln St., immediately followed by burial in St. John’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
The family suggests donations in memory of Grace be made to Our Lady of Providence Parish, c/o the parish rectory at 7 Auburn St., Worcester, MA 01605 or to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608-1280.
