Augusta,GA.- Mr. Barney L. Newman age 83, entered into rest at his residence on Saturday ,November 14, 2009.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 12:00 noon at Platt's Belair Road Chapel with Reverend Alford Halford officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Swainsboro,GA. at 4:00 p.m.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Mrs. Margie L. Newman, one son Jerry L. Newman and wife Phyllis of Dearing,GA., three daughters, Janice L. Corley and husband Ken of Augusta, Iris U. Whitaker and husband Eugene of Augusta, Joy L. Meyer and husband Wayne of Hephzibah. Grandchildren, Kelly Lonergan and husband Tripp of Harlem, Nicole Brewer and husband Jason of Evans, Bliss Hawkins and husband Brock of Dearing,GA, John Kenneth Corley II and wife Tammy of Boone,NC. Lorie Newman and husband Duane of Mars Hill, NC. and Patrick Meyer and Christina Meyer of Hephzibah. Great grandchildren, Chance and Jackson Lonergan of Harlem, Addison Brewer of Evans, Ian Newman, Marc Newman, Alyse Newman, Jacob Newman, Grace Newman and Daniel Newman of Mars Hill, NC, John Corley III, and Hannah Corley of Boone, NC. Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie G. & Lily S. Newman, one brother, Buster Flanders of Swainsboro, and three sisters, Doris Lamb, Johnnie Mae Lindsey, and Gertrude Britt all of Swainsboro.
Mr. Newman was born in Swainsboro,GA, he was a member of Faith Baptist Church, he was a retired service station manager, “ Pa Pa” was a avid fisherman and a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, he will be missed by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 until 12:00.
