Taunton – Sophie (Taraska) Waddington, age 93, died Tuesday Novemeber 10th 2009, after a brief illness at Morton Hospital Medical Center. She was the wife of the late James Henry Waddington. She was born in Providence, RI. Daughter of the late John Taraska and Katherine (Peppas) Taraska. She was employed as licensed practical nurse at the Taunton State Hospital for over 25 years. She also worked at various nursing homes in Taunton. She had also lived in Providence, RI for several years prior to coming to Taunton. She lived in Taunton for 55 years. She was also educated in the Rhode Island Schools. She survived by three daughters, Roberta Burke of Taunton, Marilyn Borges of Taunton and Kathleen Faria of Gulfport, FLA. She is also mother of the late James Waddington. She also leaves one sister Veronica Edmonds of Huston, TX. She is also survived locally by two granddaughters, Elizabeth Pittsley and Ann Guglielmo. She attended St Josephs Church in Dighton. Also enjoyed going to mass at the Marion Manor Chapel. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and reading. At her request her funeral will be private and visiting hours omitted. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston, RI.
