Edwin D. Amaral, age 81 of Swansea passed away in Fall River, November 10, 2009. He was the husband of Joan C. (Ramos) Amaral and son of the late John D. and Jennie (Pontes) Amaral. Edwin was a lifelong Swansea resident, a member of St. John of God Church and, before retiring, worked in Central Service from 1949-1988 at the former Truesdale Hospital, now Charlton Memorial Hospital. He also worked for Stop & Shop for 8 years, was a member of the V.F.C.W. Stop & Shop union and was a U.S. Army National Guard Veteran of the Korean War.
Besides his wife of Swansea, he is survived by children: Paul Amaral and his wife Darlene of Tiverton and Brenda Kenyon of Swansea, grandchildren: Macy Amaral, Makayla Kenyon,Paul Daniel Amaral, Marissa Kenyon and Shelby Amaral and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours THURSDAY 4-8 P.M. with his funeral taking place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. FRIDAY AT 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset.
