Thomas A. Zych, 63, of New Bedford died September 3rd, 2003 unexpectedly at home.
He was the husband of Nancy J. (Silva) Zych and son of the late Adam J. and Margaret T. (Normile) Zych.
Mr. Zych was born in New Bedford and lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of St. James Church.
Mr. Zych was formerly employed as a physical education teacher for the New Bedford School System for many years before retiring from the Campbell School and Ottiwell School.
He enjoyed playing sports in his youth and won many awards for swimming. Mr. Zych enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his dog Blue and trips to the dog track.He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marlyse E. Parisee, and her husband Michael E. Parisee, Jr., of Freetown; an aunt, Bertha Normile of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren, Michael A. Parisee, Macy E. Parisee, Mackenzie N. Parisee and Max T. Parisee; 4 sisters-in-law, Rita Duce, Barbara Viera and her husband Ernest, Carol Stojak, and Jean Bedient and her companion Kenneth Duce, all of Nantucket; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday, September 8th at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. James Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Sunday, September 7th from 4-7 PM.
Interment private.
