Regina M. Jones, 66, passed away at the Jeanne Jugan Residence in Somerville on November 10th, 2009. She was born in Cambridge on November 11th, 1942 to her parents William C. and Mary P. (Harrington) Jones. Regina was raised in Medford. She is a graduate of Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Girls Catholic High School , Class of 1960. After graduation, Regina entered the order of the Little Sisters of the Poor. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from St. Johns College in New York and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Adelphi University in New York. Over a period of 35 years, Regina was stationed in Queens, New York; Wilmington, Delaware; Pawtucket, Rhode Island; and Baltimore, Maryland. She was a contributing factor for the fund raising drive which enabled the Jeanne Jugan Residence in Somerville to be built. After her departure from the Little Sisters of the Poor, Regina continued her social work counseling dialysis patients in the local area. She enjoyed travel and was a member of the Hammersmith Quilting Guild in Saugus where she has developed many friendships. She is survived by her mother, Mary P. (Harrington) Jones of Medford; and by her brothers; William C. Jones Jr. of Medford, Terence J. Jones of Leominster, Edward A. Jones of Yokohama, Japan and Francis X. Jones of Chester, VA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. Regina was predeceased by her father, William C. Jones. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday November 13th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment in St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday Nov. 12th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence, 186 Highland Ave., Somerville, MA 02143.
