Obituary

KOLAK-KOSKOWITZ-HAYES, Amelia- Of Malden, joined the angels on November 6th, 2009. Amelia was born in Poland on February 9, 1912. She immigrated from Fritzak, Poland with her parents and sister to the United States in 1928.
In 1933, she married Stanley Kolak, who passed away in 1962. Together they had two daughters, Jeanette Cosman of Malden and Theresa Eveleth of Austin, Texas, a son, Stanley Kolak of Barefoot Bay, Florida, who passed away earlier this year. Amelia also had 10 grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Amelia later married Leo Koskowitz, who passed away in 1972 and Bob Hayes who passed away in 1984.
Amelia worked for Lewis Candy and National Radio. She was a member of the VFW #839, Malden Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary and the Malden Emblem Club, where she served as past president. She received a citation from the House of Representatives for her 25 years of outstanding charitable work. Amelia also volunteered her time for many other organizations and charities. Amelia also sponsored Polish immigrants who came to the United States for a better life. She opened her house and allowed them to live with her while they were obtaining a job and learning the culture of the United States.
A lifelong giver, Amelia volunteered her time and her money for local charities and causes. Her amazing resilience, strength and values were a cornerstone for her family. Amelia, a former resident of 630 Salem Street, lived the last 6 years of her life at the Regency Village Care Center in Austin, Texas. The family would like to thank the Regency staff and Dr. Edaku for their loving care and support. Amelia was a special woman to those who knew and loved her. Through her volunteering she touched and helped many lives. her family and friends will sorely miss her. With her passing, the angels rejoice as they welcome one of their own.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street, (Maplewood Square) on Thursday, November 12th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden at 10 o'clock. Services will conclude with interment at Forestdale Cemetery.
