Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Ruth J. (McLeod) Turner, 72, of 99 Prospect Street, passed on quietly at the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Monday, November 9, 2009.
Born in Gloucester on August 28, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Grace (England) McLeod.
Ruth was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister and friend who enjoyed the simple things in life such as walking and going to the beach. She was a great caregiver for the health and well-being of her mom and could often be seen around town with her.
She was employed for a few years at the Bass Rocks Motel and enjoyed good times with her fellow workers. Her greatest joy was her precious grandchildren, with whom she loved to spend time. When she moved to the Curtis Clark Building, she made many new friends who helped out during her illness. She will be remembered as a happy person who loved life and she will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Bailey and her two children, Katharine and Jeremy Bailey all of Lexington, a son, Roy Turner, III of Gloucester, and daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Ken Iwamoto of Lakeville, a niece Lori Kearsey, and among many friends, her best friend, Cecelia Doucette. She was also predeceased by her sister, Linda Kearsey, her former husband, Roy Turner, Jr. and niece, Shelley Kearsey.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
