Obituary

Evangelides, Theodore "Ted" 79, beloved husband of the late Theana Evangelides, died November 7, 2009 at Weymouth Health Care Center. He was a resident of Hingham for 40 years. Ted was born in Washington Heights, NY and lived in Englewood, NJ, Bridgewater, NJ, and then Hingham. His careers have consisted of auditor/examiner for USDA, assistant general manager for New Jersey Quality Checked Farms, plants manager for James H. McManus Ice Cream Corporation, assistant general manager for Borden Inc., project manager for Profit Management Development, Inc., and vice president for Industrial Consulting for Food Tronics Associates Group.

Ted graduated from Cobleskill College in New York in 1950. He entered the Army and trained as armorer/artificer for infantry company weapons in basic training. After he was transferred to meat and dairy hygiene school and became military food inspector in eastern Texas. Upon discharge, he entered Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. He enrolled in ROTC and upon graduation was offered a regular Army commission (one of three given to “Distinguished Military Graduates” that year). He was involved in U.S. Army activities at Fort Bragg, NC, and the Pentagon. Later he was transferred to the Ready Reserves. He was a Captain (major designee) upon discharge in 1965. Ted also graduated from Bentley College with a B.S. in accounting plus an MBA.

Ted was a professional member of the Institute of Food Technologies for 30 years, certified member of the Mass Health Officers Assoc. for 31 years. He was a member of the ALEPPO Shrine for 20 years and Fidelity 51 F&A Masons for 50 years. He was involved with the Hingham Senior Center for many years, the Hingham Police Auxiliary, and with St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Braintree.

He is survived by his sisters Mary Louise Kendall of Stony Brook, NY, Dorothy Cabarle & her husband Neil of Palm Beach, FL, his niece Mary Ann Maciulaitis & her husband Mark of Stony Brook, NY and grandniece Christine.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham, Wednesday 7-9 PM.

Funeral in Saint Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, Braintree, Thursday at 10 AM.

Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1PM.
