John C. White, Jr., 65

John C. White, Jr., 65, of Norton passed away on Saturday November 7, 2009 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I. He was the beloved companion of Shirley B. Conniff whom he shared the past 19 years with. He was also the former husband of the late Ernestine “Skip” Costa and Martha C. Wallace.
Born in Ohio on February 14, 1944 he was a dear son of the late John C., Sr. and Bertha E. (White) White.
John grew up in the Roxbury section of Boston, was educated in Boston parochial and public schools and graduated from high school in 1962.
A retired self-employed Automotive Technician, for several years John owned and operated the former White’s Auto Repair in Mansfield. He began his career in automotives at Jack Madden Ford in Norwood.
He was a race car enthusiast throughout his automotive career but his true passion was the love of motorcycles. He was a charter member and former president of the Ruptured Ducks in Norton, a club in which its platform is focused on assisting the needs of veterans. He was also a member of the Blackstone Valley Chapter and enjoyed being actively involved with other clubs motorcycling events.
A true American, one of his proudest events in life was being involved with the Vietnam Moving Wall. John had the honor of being the lead rider when the moving wall was escorted between the states of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The proud owner of a 2001 Electra Glide Classic Custom, John cherished the times spent tinkering around in the “Harley Shed”. In addition to motorcycles, Mr. White also loved traveling by means of recreation vehicle. John made his home in Norton for the past 24 years and had previously resided in Attleboro, Mansfield and Foxboro.
In addition to his beloved companion Shirley he is survived by his loving and devoted children Denise M. Savoia of Standish, Maine, John C. Costa and his wife Kimberly of Standish, Maine and Christopher J. Wallace-White and his wife Laura of North Attleboro. He was the dear brother of Bertha Bell and her husband Vincent of Manchester, NH, Edward L. Kenny of Brockton, George F. Kenny and his wife Janice of Plymouth, Patricia Millner of Brockton and the late Anthony Joseph Kenny. John is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Kered Savoia, Paul Savoia, Adam Costa, Morgan Costa, Kelley Santos-Savoia and Christina Santos-Savoia and his great granddaughter Jaylynn Arrianna as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and his best friend “Tiny”.
Prayer services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday November 12th at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday November 11th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
