Obituary

W.J. “Billy” Kight, 69, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, November 6, 2009, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Monday, November 9, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. B.J. Funk & Rev. Annette Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Kight was born March 28, 1940 in Coffee County, Georgia. He was raised by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. S.A. Yancey. He was a 1959 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Mr. Kight served in the Georgia National Guard. He was a retired conductor for CSX Railroad and served as a union representative. He was a member of UTU, a member of Central United Methodist Church, and attended St. Peter's United Methodist Church. An avid fisherman, Mr. Kight was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all.

He is survived by his wife: Johnnie M. Kight of Fitzgerald; sons and daughters-in-law: Jess & Nancy Kight of Marietta and Jeff & Kelly Kight of Fitzgerald; 4 grandchildren: Parker & Preston Kight and Kasey & Landon Kight; sisters and brothers-in-law: Priscilla & Benny Nelms, Patricia & Jakie Ethridge and Pamela & Aaron Harper, all of Fitzgerald, Trinda & Danny Williams of Ocilla, and Johnnie & LeAnn Pollard of Jacksonville, Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. V. Kight, Gladys Kight, and Ruby Kight Pollard.
