WORCESTER-Elwyn A. Underhill, 88, of Worcester passed away peacefully Monday, November 2nd in UMass-Memorial Medical Center. His wife, Joan M. (Cody) Underhill died in 1994. He leaves four daughters, Karen J. McElroy of Bethel, ME, Dianne M Underhill of Worcester, Pamela A. Johnson and her husband, Robert of Sutton and Janice K. Underhill of Lee, NH; a sister, Shirley Benoit of Leicester; a brother, Kenneth Underhill of CA; a brother-in-law, James W. Cody of Goffstown, NH; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristina, Jeffrey, and Kaitlyn; two great grandsons, Daniel and Jacob; several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two sisters, Claudia Mason and Jean Bruso.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Henry E. and Una A. (Leno) Underhill. Mr. Underhill was a machinist for Leland-Gifford Company and later at Jamesbury Corporation, from which he retired in 1991. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Mr. Underhill was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Elwyn enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
The funeral is Wednesday, November 4th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, November 3rd from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
