Obituary

Gertrude Eaton Wood, 99, of Auburn died October 30, 2009 at Courville at Manchester.
She was born in Auburn on August 22, 1910, the daughter of Albert E. and Emma G. (Kimball) Eaton.
Many years ago she had worked for the Auburn Post Office.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Auburn Fire Department and an active member of the Longmeadow Congregational Church.
In November of 2006, Gertrude was awarded with the Boston Post Cane in recognition of being Auburn’s oldest resident.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family.
Her husband Malcolm A. Wood died in 1985.
Her family would like to thank the staff for all the wonderful and compassionate care Gertrude was given at Courville at Manchester.
Family members include three sons, Robert Wood and his wife Marietta of Salem, OR, Malcolm Wood and his companion Christine Egan of Manchester, Richard Wood and his wife Brenda of Trevett, ME; one daughter, Dianne Alperin of Boxford, MA; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace Hrycuna of Candia; one brother, Harland Eaton of Auburn; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The funeral service was held on Monday, November 2, 2009 in the Longmeadow Congregational Church, 4 Wilsons Crossing Road, Auburn. Burial followed in Auburn Village Cemetery.
