New Bedford- Alda A. (Sousa) Fonseca, died Friday, October 30, 2009 at home, after a brief illness. Alda was the beloved wife of the late Jose Fonseca. She was the mother of Helena Rocha and her late husband Joao Rocha, Alice De Sousa and her husband Jose and Jose O Fonseca and his wife Lucilia all from New Bedford. Mrs. Fonseca was the sister of Alice Costa and Antoinetta Sousa both of Terceira, Azores and Osvaldo Sousa of Toronto, Canada. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Fonseca was a daughter of the late Deolinda and Jose Sousa. Alda was born in Teceira, Azores and has lived here since 1969. Mrs. Fonseca was a formerly a stitcher at Elco Dress.
P>Mrs. Fonseca’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Monday at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, New Bedford, MA. at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery . Visiting hours are Sunday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited
