Edward Lee Nesbitt, 75, of Phoenix, Arizona, died Monday, October 26, 2009 in Pensacola, Florida.
High Mass will be held at 11A.M. Friday, October 30, at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Tifton with Father Lonnie Lacy officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Nesbitt was born May 27, 1934 in Fitzgerald to the late William E. and Roxie Hurt Nesbitt. He was a 1953 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and was a former resident of Tifton, GA, Arlington, VA, Ft. Lauderdale and Washington, D.C. He attended South Georgia College and Valdosta State College and received his Masters Degree in education from Georgetown University in Arlington. Mr. Nesbitt retired from teaching elementary school in Arlington, VA. He was a former employee of the Bureau of National Affairs in Washington, D.C. He was a SSGT in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War and Vietnam War eras. Mr. Nesbitt was a member of the Episcopalian faith and he helped raise money and clothing for less-fortunate children.
He is survived by his brother, Marvin Nesbitt of Fitzgerald; sisters, Mary Taylor of Phoenix, AZ and Patricia Wood of Fitzgerald
