Vacherot, Maurice G. of Hudson, Massachusetts passed away at the age of 76 on Oct. 24, 2009 after a short battle with leukemia. He was the loving son of the late Maurice and Irene Vacherot; brother of the late Antoinette Vacherot and is survived by his wife of 44 years Claire Vacherot; father of five devoted and loving children; oldest son Maurice Vacherot, his wife Paula and two children Nicole and Elyse and great-granddaughter Ava of Burlington, VT.; Richard Vacherot, his wife Deborah and daughter Genevieve of Newbury Park, CA.; Cindy Plainte, her husband Brandon and daughter Gabrielle of Sterling, MA.; Renee Slatkavitz, her husband Steven and son Troy of Clinton, MA.; and Brenda Larmand, her children Joseph, James, and Hannah of Peterborough, N.H. and companion Margaret Larmand. Maurice was born in Lowell, MA where he graduated St. Joseph’s High School, attended Tuft’s University and later graduated from Lowell Technical Institute with a Bachelor’s in Electronics Engineering (BSEE). Maurice enjoyed and cherished his 38 years of service at the MITRE Corporation where he developed, designed and worked on systems that continue to protect our nation today. His technical contributions and advancements were considered well ahead of their time and continue to be utilized in many of today’s commercial applications. His work took him around the world where he pioneered systems that continue to provide national security for many U.S. allies.
Maurice was not only a dedicated employee, but a loving and devoted patriarch who provided the foundation for his family. He was the most important advocate for education in his family. He provided valuable insight throughout his children’s education, whether it meant rolling up his sleeves and solving a difficult math problem or offering guidance in college education. He loved life and found joy in travelling and exploring the world. Friends and family members appreciated Maurice’s encyclopedic knowledge of just about any location and inspired this same love of travel in his children and grandchildren. Many fond memories exist of the kids packing into the car to some new destination: ocean visits, foliage trips, or ski and summer vacations. His travels often took him to France where was able to contact his father’s family and visit the place where his father was born. Although his travels took him many places, his favorite places were the many harbors along the coast of Maine. Special memories of Maurice include: spending time with family, cheering for the Red Sox and Patriots, enjoying lobster by the sea, reading everything in sight, offering valuable advice, loving his classical music, and always being there as a loving father.
He will be missed by all who love him.
