Obituary

WAYLAND: Edward C. “Ted” Osmond, 98, a longtime Wayland resident went home to be with his Lord on October 25, 2009.
He was the oldest of five children born on April 29, 1911 at Bishop Falls, New Foundland. He was the son of the late Hedley and Darcy (Newhook) Osmond.
Mr. Osmond was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and was know to all as “Bumpa”. He was pre-deceased in death by his loving wife of 74 years, Myrtle E. (Woodland) Osmond who died in 2008. He is survived by his three children, Gail Bowers and her husband Fran of Seekonk; Ed Osmond, Jr. and his wife Mim of Vancouver, WA and Donna Bradley of Wayland. He was the brother of Fred and Ralph Osmond both of Wayland and the late Katherine Osmond and Hector Osmond . He was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Osmond was very athletic as a young man. He loved wrestling, swimming canoeing and horses. He was enlisted with the MA National Guard, 110th Calvary Troop A and was and excellent marksman and polo player.
He worked as a carpenter through his life, working for Bethlehem Steel, Thoreson and in later years as a building contractor with his two brother Fred and Ralph. He was active in the Carpenter’s Union, Masons and spent many hours as a volunteer for the Trinitarian Congregational Church of Wayland.
He had a great compassion for people and readily gave of himself and resources to help those in need. He was loved by all. Later in life, he and his wife Myrtle traveled extensively through out the world enjoying many different cultures.
His funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 53 Cochituate Road (Rte. 27), Wayland.
At the request of his family there will be no funeral home visitations and private family interment will take place at the Osmond family lot in North Cemetery in Wayland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinitarian Congregational Church, Deacons Fund, 53 Cochituate Rd, Wayland, MA 10778.
