Obituary

94, passed away in a local nursing facility. He was the husband of the late Thelma (Burbank) Kenerson, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.
Born in Saugus on July 20, 1915, he was the son of the late Clarence and Lillian (Witham) Kenerson. Carleton was raised and educated in Saugus. He also received his Masters from Fitchburg State College. He taught auto repair in Everett at the vocational school prior to becoming the department head of auto repair at North East Regional Metro Technical Vocational School. He retired as the Superintendent of the school in 1980. Upon his retirement he was employed at the Rowley Country Club until the age of 93.
Mr. Kenerson was a resident of Topsfield since 1971 and a member of the Topsfield Congregation Church for over 30 years. While residing in Saugus he was a member of the Lions Club, where he was past president. He enjoyed helping those in need and grew thousands of chrysanthemums for many years and sold them for charity. He and his family also took many trips to Haiti where he was able to help build a clinic, a school and many homes. Carleton also enjoyed skiing and was a member of the national ski patrol at the former Moose Mountain. He also took his family to Montana for two consecutive summers to work in the Glacier National Park.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Ellen and Philip Mahoney of Topsfield, a son and daughter-in-law, Laurey C. and Anne Kenerson of Shutesbury, five grandchildren, including Derek Mahoney of NH and Tara Kocur of Danvers and twelve great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two siblings, Clarence Kenerson and Roberta Donahue.
A Memorial Service will be held next week at 11AM on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 in Byfield Parish Church, 132 Jackman St., Georgetown. Relatives and friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to the Missionary Fund at the Byfield Parish Church, 132 Jackman St., Georgetown, MA, 01833. Funeral arrangements are made by C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
