Ruth W. (Lind) Vona passed away on October 25, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old.
Born in Malden, Ruth made the city her home and continued to live there as she raised her family. She was married to the late Raymond J. Vona, her husband of 29 years. Ruth was the former owner of the Sea Tern Fish Market in Everett for 45 years and had been a cafeteria worker in the Malden Public Schools for over 10 years. Ruth loved to travel and did so with the Cantera Travel Group. She was also a member of the Irish American Ladies Auxiliary.
Ruth was the beloved mother of Sheila Fermano and her husband Domenic, Michael Vona and his wife Kristin and Susan Johnson and her husband Paul all of Malden. She was the dear sister of Robert Lind and his wife Gertrude of Middleton and the late Marie Worcester and the loving aunt of Donna Worcester of Everett. Ruth was the cherished grandmother of John Schifano and his wife Melissa, Marc Schifano and his wife Jan, Stephanie Schifano, Michael, Marissa and Ava Vona and Jenna and Erin Johnson. She was the great-grandmother of Aidan, Isabella, Noah and Samuel. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
The Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Friday, October 30th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday, October 29th from 3-8 p.m. Interment Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
