Obituary

Mrs. Gentilina Agresti, 90 of Somerville, died Wednesday in Emerson Village Watertown. She is the wife of the late Luigi Agresti. Born in Pola Italy, daughter of the late Alessandro and the late Antonia (Detoffi) Debrevi. She came to the United States in April of 1956. She and her family were scheduled to be on the ill fated Andrea Doria when it sank, however there was only room for 3 passengers, and had to wait for the sister ship.She settled for a short time in Medford and Cambridge and has been a Somerville resident since 1958. She was a talented seamstress as well as knowledgeable in knitting and crocheting. A very artistic woman, she loved to work in the garden. Known as a great cook, she was a friendly and social woman. She was a former communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Somerville. She loved music and dancing and found great enjoyment in shoveling snow. She derived the most pleasure from her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by a son Pasquale “Pat” Agresti and his wife Marlene, Guisippina M. “Pina” Mingace and her husband Leo all of Somerville. Loving grandmother of Paul Agresti, Julie Jones, and Salvatore Mingace. Loving great grandmother of twins Sara and Michael Agresti , Alexandra and Brendan Jones. Funeral services were conducted in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lina’s name may be sent to the Epilepsy Association Of Massachusetts, 59 Temple Place, Suite 550, Boston, MA 02115 Or St Ann’s Building Fund, 399 Medford Street, Somerville, MA 02144.
