Anthony Rania, of Hollywood, FL, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday at his home. He was 69.
Mr. Rania was born in Palermitti, Italy the son of the late Joseph and the late Rosina (Razionale) Rania.
Tony came to the United States in 1954. In 1971 he founded Mama Gina’s Pizza in Union Square, Somerville. He owned and operated the landmark pizzeria untill his retirement in 1991.
In 1999 he and his wife Sandra moved to Hollywood, Florida.
He is survived by his wife Sandra (Enos) Rania, four daughters: Rosina Lis, MD of Westborough, Paula Glavin of Tewksbury, Carla Rania of Medford, Krissy Alexander of Beverly and a son James Alexander of Manchester, NH.He was a loving Nonno to Michael, Katie, Daniel and Samuel Lis, Rihana, Gina and Joe Glavin and Christopher Stanford. Tony leaves a sister, Anna Teresa Nardo of Italy, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may visit Friday from 3-8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. James Church, 779 Fellsway, Medford, Saturday at 9 AM.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
