Obituary

J. Roy Erikson, 92, died Sunday, October 24, 2009, at Autumn Village. His wife, Martha L. (Carlson) Erikson, died in 1984. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Andrew B. Erikson and Harold L. Erikson (a victim of the June 9, 1953 Tornado).
He leaves 4 nephews, Stephen A. Erikson and John H. Erikson both of Worcester, Alan S. Carlson of NH, and Ronald C. Strand of Burlington; and grandnieces & grandnephews.

He was born in Worcester, son of John R. and Anna (Selin) Erikson and was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church. He graduated from the Drafting Dept. of Worcester Boys Trade High School, Worcester Junior College, and also attended the evening college at Clark University. He was employed by the Norton Co. Machine Tool Div. for 35 years as Inventory Supervisor and by Warner & Swasey for 6 years as a Senior Buyer. Roy was a 60 year member of Morning Star Lodge AF & AM, life member of the Aletheia Grotto, 88th Infantry Division Assn., Greendale YMCA Retirement Club and was an avid golfer in its golf league. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving as a Technical Sergeant in Italy with the 88th Inf. Div.

The funeral service will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Thursday, October 29, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. A calling hour will be held prior to the funeral from 12-1 p.m. Please omit flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Ave., Worcester MA 01606.
