In Taunton, October 24, 2009 Eleanor M. (Trucchi) Nunes, age 81, after a brief illness she passed away peacefully while surrounded by her beloved family. Mrs. Nunes was the widow of the late Albert E. Nunes, Jr., former principal of Edmund Hatch Bennett School. She was born in Taunton to her late parents John F. Trucchi & Mabel R. (Papazoni) Trucchi. She is survived by her five sons and daughters-in-law, Paul F. and Cindi A. Nunes of Brandon, Florida, Garry E. and Deborah J. Nunes of Parlin, N.J., Richard A. and Michelle A. Nunes, Peter A. and Ann Marie Nunes, all of Taunton, MA. and David J. and Lisa L. Nunes of Norton, MA. Four granddaughters, Jennifer (Nunes) Salvo, Katherine, Nicole and Valerie Nunes, ten grandsons, Ryan, Brian, Kevin, Kristopher, Joel, Daniel, Michael, Mark, Andrew and Matthew Nunes, one great granddaughter Julia Nunes, one step grandson, Shawn Spare, five step great grandsons, Brandon, Dalton, Cameron, Kaiden and Kylon Spare of Florida. Her two brothers, Edward M. Trucchi and Peter A. Trucchi both of Taunton. Also, twelve nieces, five nephews and many other relatives and friends, all with whom she shared love, laughter, joy and life. She is looking forward with great expectations to the next phase of life and is optimistically hoping to see God and her deceased loved ones, especially her beloved husband, Al. She was the sister of the late John P. Trucchi and the late Arlene M. Corriveau and step grandmother of the late Jason Hackler. Eleanor was a member of St. Paul’s Church. A lifelong resident of this city, Mrs. Nunes worked as a homemaker, legal secretary and paralegal for many years. She was educated in Taunton schools and graduated from Taunton High School in 1945 and from Kathleen Dell School in Brookline, MA. in 1947. She was a member and past regent of the Daughters of Isabella, a member of the Holy Union Associates Taunton Region, a Eucharistic Minister to the sick for St. Paul’s Church now St. Andrew the Apostle Parish and was a volunteer for Hospice Care of Greater Taunton Inc. for many years. Eleanor loved summering with her children and grandchildren on Patuisset Island on Cape Cod. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA. on Wednesday., October 28th at 10am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Paul’s Church at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8pm. Interment in the family lot in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
